The
Government of Maharashtra and the Government of Israel
signed an Agreement whereby joint programmes would be undertaken
to
transfer Israeli technology to Maharashtra to improve Agricultural technology
in the State.
As a part of this Agreement, the Government of Maharashtra
appointed Agricultural Development Company (International) Ltd (AGRIDEV), to
study
the conditions of Maharashtra and give its recommendations.
The Government of Maharashtra decided to establish India’s first large
scale computerized
Drip Irrigation project based on Israeli technology for growing
Cotton
under the guidance of Israeli Consultants from Agridev at
Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola.
After studying
the various options available in India Agridev selected Finolex Plasson
to supply, install and commission the complete irrigation
system.
The installation of the drip irrigation system spread over
an area of
532 acres was challenging task which involved detailed planning,
procurement,
co-ordination and management.
The expertise provided by Finolex Plasson Engineers who
worked shoulder to shoulder with FPIL customer
ensured completion of the gigantic project in a record time of 45 days.
